“…all dire things are deprived of their venom by Christ…”
(Transformation in Christ, Von Hildebrand)
When I read this quote, I picture in my mind being bitten by a snake. A snake that represents the sufferings and pain of this world. When I am bitten, I am able to feel the sting of the fangs piercing my leg. I feel anxiety and fear. However, no venom overtakes me. The snakes of this world have a bite without venom.
This is how life is when we put our hope in Christ. We will still feel the pains and evils of this world. The bites of the snakes will continue to come after us. However, we will not be overcome.
Our trust in God and His plan for our lives is the anti-venom.
